Me. My Life. And Crap.

Sunday, July 19, 2009 @ 8:26 PM: My Sister's Keeper
Wow.
That's the only word I can think of to describe it.

Wow.
My Sister's Keeper is truly an amazing novel.
All who have read it would definitely agree with me.

Here's a brief synopsis of the book:

Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned… until now.

Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable… a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.

This book, I've only just finish reading it probably two weeks ago.
I was supposed to blog about it sooner but I got distracted.

Seriously, it really is a great book.
About how life can sometimes be cruel and unfair.
How life can be so miraculous sometimes.
And yet, sometimes, how life can bring in the unexpected.

It also shows us how tough it is as a parent, in such a situation.
As well as a kid, who had no choice in the matter and is just placed there.
It shows how the outside people would see your situation.
Its an all round 360 degree view on the whole story.

And it also really relates to us in our lives, and how we feel sometimes.
Truly, you have to read it to understand what I'm saying here.

And as for the ending,
I'm definitely not the person who you will see blabbing about spoilers!!

But all I can say was, I did not see it coming at all!
It really is a bitter sweet ending.
I cant decide if it is a happy or sad one.

I reli can't think of how to describe it.
But really.

I seriously admire the way the author wrote the whole story.
She planned everything to be shrowded in mystery until the very last moment.
Before she finally revealed the secret to all the characters.
And believe me, the secret was shocking!
I can tell you, I had goosebumps!!

And my eyes were slightly watering, but I caught myself just in time.
Sometimes I just get too absorbed into a book xDD

I can only hope to be half of what she is today.
Hopefulyl one day I can write as good as that!!

Either way, go read it.
But for those who won't read it, go watch it.

Yes.
They have made a movie!!!
Haha.

Though from what I know,
They changed the ending result of the book.
Which is kinda a relief if its in real life,
though I wish they would've just stuck to the book's ending.

Either way, here's the trailer:

Just remember, to read the book's last few chapters to find out how the real ending was meant to be.

And send me the movie if you manage to download it!!
Damn Malaysia ain't showing it!!
I dunno why...
Its such a great movie!!

Btw, here's a few questions for all to ponder before reading the book:

Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life… even if that means infringing upon the rights of another?

Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, even if that quest makes you less like yourself?

Life, is beautiful...
(and apparently colorful xD)
